Hello! My name is Kara, I'm a 19-year-old non-smoker living in Troy. I have 10+ years experience caring for infants and children, including those with special needs (both physical and mental disabilities), and over the past year I have been caring for a disabled couple. I am wonderful with children and am used to working with very active infants and toddlers, and I believe that it is important to expose them to as many different things as possible so there will always be things to do. Though I am currently taking time off from school, I am halfway to a degree in Art Therapy that I plan to use to work with children and adolescents. As I considered going into Art Education, I have also taken some Child Development classes as well. (As you can probably guess, Arts and Crafts time is really popular with the children I care for.)
My mother was an elementary special education teacher, and I spent a lot of time volunteering in her classroom where I learned many techniques for teaching early reading and writing skills, and I can read, write and speak Spanish, so if you are interested in having them learn a bit I would love to teach them. I also have more children's books than you can count, and would love to introduce them to my favorites.
My schedule is totally flexible, and I am willing to work late nights, weekends, and holidays.
