I have been involved with taking care of children off and on throughout my life. My mom worked at a daycare when I was in middle school, and I would go help her out after school. I also would babysit on occasion for a classmate's sister and a neighborhood girl. When I went to high school, I babysat for one of my teachers a few times. The summer after my senior year of high school, I worked as a nanny/bookkeeper for a man who owned a construction company. The boys were old enough to mostly take care of themselves, though, so I was there in case they needed something. I also spent a summer working as a camp counselor. Some weeks I was in charge of a cabin full of girls, while other weeks I was a sub counselor and worked in several cabins during the week. Until recently, my mom would take care of infants (usually one at a time) in our home, and I would help her when I was available. In January 2011, I started tutoring a 10-year-old girl in Russian. Her parents were around most of the time when I was there, but sometimes it was just us. Also, one weekend they left me to take care of her when they went out of town. I'm a child at heart myself, so being around kids is refreshing!
