I absolutely love working with children. They are so full of energy and love and are very eager to learn. 18 years ago when I took my first nanny job I never dreamed it would turn into a career but it has and I wouldn't trade it for anything. When I started 18 years ago, I found a family in Naperville with 2 beautiful girls-9 months and 2 years old. Today they are 19 and 20 years old and in college and I am lucky to be able to still have a relationship with them. I took care of them for 6 years, then they were in school full time and I wasn't needed. Next I found another family in Naperville and they had 1 little girl only 8 months old and in a year later another little girl came along and again I am lucky to still see them but they are now 10 and 12 years old. I was with them for 6 years also and then mom decided it was time for her to stay home. Then 5 years ago I found my current family in Woodridge and their kids were 4 1/2, 2 1/2, and 9 months old. Of course now they are ages 9, 7 and 5. I can't believe how fast 5 years as once again gone.
I love to plan things to do with the kids-craft projects, party days (when they get to invite friends over). I think parents like this just as much. When they are not in school we go to the zoo, the arboretum, Blackberry Farm, parks, and almost to much to list but we stay very busy all summer long.
I do help with laundry (the kid's laundry). And now that I have been with this family so long I also do grocery shopping, dry cleaning, pets to groomers and vet, organize closets and just about anything. Which once I got to know another family very well I would also help out there. But I have no problem in the beginning doing the children's laundry.
