Hello, My name is Joseph Temple and I am a sophomore at Indiana University. I am studying Social Studies education in the hope of becoming an American History teacher. I am the fifth of eight children and I understand how siblings get along and how sometimes they don't. The youngest in our family is six, I am responsible for him on the days that our mom has to work.The 6-year-old, often tells me and our other siblings I am his favorite and "the best". Along with him, I have been responsible for my cousin's 7-year-old twins for the past three years. While I watch them they often get the other neighborhood kids together and I become responsible for up to six kids at once ranging from four to 10 years old.
I think that kids should be encouraged to be creative, and I am definitely not a 'let the kids go play while I relax' type babysitter. I try to be actively involved with the kids and I always make sure that they know I am not there just because I am getting paid to be. I invest myself in the kids I take care of and because of that they tend to listen more willingly and the twins and their friends are always excited when I get to watch them.
