I have been a teacher for 11 years now. I graduated from Adams State College with a degree in teaching in 2000. Since then, I have taught 5th, 4th, 1st, and Kinder. I currently work at an early Head Start program with children who are 15 months to 3 years of age.
I first began babysitting when I was age 12 and my local 4-H offered a Red Cross First Aid course for babysitters. I would sit for friends of my mom, tourists who came to our town found my name through local day cares, and I would watch my younger sister for my step-mom. I also worked on Sundays in the nursery at church.
The most important thing about caring for kids, to me, is remembering to play. I have yet to have a day with kids where I don't find myself laughing out loud and just having fun.
