Upon first meeting Jody, I was excited to build a long term care relationship with her and my daughter. In the beginning, Jody seemed to have a true want to provide care for my child and seemed genuinely happy to provide care. Unfortunately, over time we ran into a few situations with Jody that I feel are important for other parents to be aware of. While I will not itemize every issue we had with her as all parents are different and some things may be okay with other parents that are not okay with us, the following are the situations that I feel need to be discussed up front before placing your child in anyone's care. a.) Jody left our child in the care of her friend when she needed to pick up her own son from school. Jody never asked our permission and did not even advise this had happened until 48 hours after the event occurred. b.) We signed a contract when care commenced. Part of the contract outlines two weeks of vacations plus certain holidays. Jody requested three weeks vacation for 2013. In addition, Jody advised us on a Friday at 6pm that she would be closed on the following Monday for President's Day. Unfortunately, this holiday was not listed in her requested vacation/holiday notice. Her response to me was 'Sorry, it is a holiday.' c.) We provided food for our daughter to eat. Jody took it upon herself to introduce different fruits to our daughter causing her to break out in hives. Again, we were not informed that my daughter had been given these items until after the fact. While Jody is not a bad person and I feel that she genuinely liked my daughter...as a parent my first concern is my daughter's safety and the reliability of the caregiver.
