My experience working with children began at the early age of 4 when my little brother was born. Becoming a big sister swept me into a role of responsibility and nurturing that has only grown throughout my life. I started working at my mom's best friend daycare as a weekly helper when I was 11 years old and continued into adulthood. She was also first choice daycare provider for the weekend seminar retreats held in Leavenworth, WA where I also worked and lead activities for ages infant-12 years old. I baby sat through out our community in Leavenworth, watching neighbor's children and family friend's kids. When I was 14 I began working at a Bible Camp. I worked as staff and counselor for two years, working with children, ages 6-13, five-seven campers at a time, different ages per week. The summer after I graduated I worked as a counselor at a different summer camp with campers, ages 5-15, five to seven campers at a time, different ages per week. Working as a camp counselor, I taught skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, integrity, confidence and perseverance as well as provided opportunity for inspired creativity and personal growth. Being a big sister, I absolutely love being the fun big sis to all of the kids I have the opportunity to watch and guide. I was a camper at summer camp for 8 years and looked up to my counselors so much. I have always looked forward to the day I was big enough to provide kids with what my counselors provided me: such wonderful assistance to growing up with a unique fun artistic style.
Being around children is such a fulfilling experience for me. I find so much comfort in their light. The food for thought that they provide with their clever little minds continues to encourage and inspire me to strive.
