My paid experience with caring for children is very limited, however I have developed bonds with both the children I have cared for for free and those that I was paid to care for. I started baby-sitting when I was a freshman in high school for a family friend while she took her older son to his sporting events. I was in charge of caring for a 4-year-old girl. I handled everything from snack and dinner, to entertainment and activities that stimulated her mind and or motor skills. I worked for the family for just over a year.
Since then I have watched children here and there for other families and have heard nothing but good responses. When I am in charge of a child I make sure I am fully aware of all the guidelines and rules the parents wish for the child/children to follow and continue to consistently implement them. I also am a firm believer in both activities that stimulate the motor skills and mind. I think it is important, especially in young children to let them learn by having fun. Learning how to do everyday tasks can be a game and teach them both responsibility and self-pride in a job well done!
