I have cared for children, ages 5-months to 10-years-old, and as many as three children at once. Throughout high school, I babysat for three families in my neighborhood. I continued working with families while studying at Harvard. I further engaged youth during that time by being a after-school tutor, working with 3rd graders to enhance their reading and math skills. For the last two and half years, I have babysat a 2 1/2-year-old whom I have cared for as needed by her parents. It's included picking her up from pre-school, putting her down for her nap as well as bedtime, reading stories, playing and taking her out to the park.

For me childcare goes beyond ensuring a child's safety while his/her parents are away. I think it's important to engage them in meaningful ways. And while the mundane may seem tiring to those who have to do it day to day, as a sitter, I actually enjoy the little aspects of caring for children: from diaper changes, to story time and fussy bedtimes, to cooking meals and making eating broccoli fun, to watching Mary Poppins for the 100th time, to building magical castles with living room sofa cushions. I would bring this level of appreciation and joy to caring for your children.
