Since I am the youngest in my family, I never had any younger siblings to babysit. However, I love being around kids and I would consider myself very experienced in the caring for them. I have a lot of young cousins that I babysit all the time ranging from newborns up to about 10 years. I also have done babysitting for numerous families that have heard my name from family or friends. During my senior year of high school I was part of a student teaching program and was a cadet teacher for 4th grade at an Elementary School. I thought this was a great opportunity and I really loved being around the kids. I was responsible for grading papers and assisting the kids with their schoolwork, especially the ones who needed additional help. With dealing with class of 25 kids, I think that this really taught me patience and responsibility. Last summer I tutored a 2nd grade boy in Math and English twice a week. I was responsible for preparing lesson plans and homework for him. I also provided incentives to get him motivated and excited about schoolwork. Overall, I truly enjoy being around children and when taking care of them, I think that I can do a great job of balancing discipline, fun and needed attention.
