My second experience was at a battered women's shelter, where I volunteered to watch up to 11 children between the ages of 3 months and 10 years...

My first was when I was in eighth grade and my neighbor hired me to watch her dog, Coco, while she was away on business. I did this for her for about 8 months, until I moved away from the neighborhood.

My second experience was at a battered women's shelter, where I volunteered to watch up to 11 children between the ages of 3 months and 10 years while their mothers were in group, grocery shopping, or doing other day-to-day activities.

My most recent experience was when my family joined a program called "Solace for the Children." Solace was a program where host families, such as mine, took in a number of children from Afghanistan for the summer. While they were in our care, we provided them with necessary medical attention and a surrounding away from the war in their country.
