My name is Jennifer. I am 19 years old and I am completing my first year of college at Bridgewater State University. I am studying Elementary Education, Psychology and Special Education.

I have worked with children since I was in Middle School. I am the oldest of 3 in my family, watching my brother and sister all my life. I babysat for my neighbors all through high school. I watched a family of 3 boys, 2 boys, and a boy and a girl. I have babysat ages infant to 13 years old. I also watched a 9-year-old boy with Autism. Along with babysitting, I have also taught Sunday School at my church from ages Pre-K through K and Grade 5. I have also volunteered at the Special Olympics for the past 3 years helping special needs children compete.

In college this past year I have participated in Jump Start. Jump Start is a program through Americorps where I worked in a preschool in Brockton twice a week for four hours a day. During session, I worked with 4 children. We went over spelling their name each day, read core story books that focus on new vocabulary, sing songs and poems, play literacy games, and play in different centers such as art, science, dramatic play, books and puzzles and manipulatives. It has been incredible to watch the children learn and grow through Jump Start. This has been an amazing and rewarding experience.
