I was a babysitter for a family for 4 years, taking their girls to and from practices, picking up from school, doing homework and staying with them until an adult came home from work. I was also a nanny for a family for 3 years, meaning I stayed with the children during times the parents were away, did homework, and made sure they had everything they needed for the next school day. I have cooked for both families, taking them on outings around town and out of town. I enjoy spending time with children and after working in a school setting, I prefer not to be in the classroom. I like working one-on-one with kids. I have been in a classroom setting for 3 years working with 2nd and 3rd grade, had internships in both kindergarten and 5th grade, so I know what is needed when it comes to getting prepared for school. I have also been a substitute in middle and high school for one year.
For the past 3 years, I have worked with two main families and have become very close with them. With these families, my duties varied from taking to lessons, the park, pool, or other activities. I cook often for these children and have dealt with the morning, as well as the evening routines. I have stayed with one of these families over night while the parents were away for the weekend. I have also dog sat for them while the whole family was away.
