Jamie M.

Jamie M. cared for my 10 year-old and 8 year-old daughters from September 2009 through June 2010, looking after them before and after school as well as transporting them back and forth. I have been delighted with her work and, honestly, I wish I could have taken her with us when we moved out of state! She has become an important person in the lives of my daughters. When I told my children that I would be writing a reference for Jamie, I was not surprised to hear my younger two children suggesting ideas like, Jamie's a wonderful sitter. She always had plenty of things for us to do, like baking and art projects. The comments which my 12 year-old took the time to write out unsolicited, however, impressed me most because she only was in Jamie's care occasionally, since she attended the school where I was teaching and mostly stayed with me while her sisters were with Jamie. She did spend time with Jamie a number of times when I had a late meeting or was out of town. Her sisters and I wholeheartedly agree with her assessment of Jamie and I have transcribed it as follows: Jamie is a great babysitter. Every day when my sisters came home, they would brag about what a great time they had at her house before and after school. She was clearly very understanding and kind; however, she also handled all conflict quickly and was firm (but just) when necessary. On the occasions when I needed to be picked up from school, Jamie always found a way to shift her schedule and make time for me. She was always very friendly and listened to me talk about my day and life in general. She always made sure I did my homework but also provided plenty of fun activities. Jamie is a great babysitter, role model, and person with the important qualities (such as responsible, kind, caring, firm, and smart) of a good caregiver. I couldn't have said it better myself! As a teacher myself, I highly value the fact that Jamie is an educator, and her experience with children shows. She didn't just care for my children; she encouraged them to think and grow and work hard. If you want someone who will celebrate your children for who they are and help them to become the best that they can be, you can trust Jamie to be that person. Your children will get reliable care, compassion, and more!
