I have cared for 2 families in 17+ years. I was with the first family for 15 years, with 3 children, the oldest was 5 weeks when I started. I took care of their basic needs and played games, did crafts, read to them, went to playgrounds, museums, playdates, after-school activities and other child-related programs. When one of the kids was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, I attended classes with the parents to learn how to manage her new lifestyle.

My second family has a set of twins, a boy and a girl, and a couple of teenagers, though they were not my responsibility. I took the little ones to school, playdates, playgrounds, museums, the library, played in the yard and read books, Legos and dollies.
