From June 2007 through March 2011 I worked as a mother's helper, sitter, and nanny for a family. This position gave me extensive experienced with a larger family and gave me excellent skills in multitasking and flexibility. I acted as a live-in nanny during the summers, supervising pool and activity time and a live-out nanny during the school year, helping mom with transportation and organization as well as homework help. At time of hire, the kids were 8, 7, and 5 years old (two boys and a girl, respectively). Responsibilities included playtime, naps, baths, cooking, light cleaning, pool supervision, and transportation
With a great reference from the position above, I was able to get a job at a gymnastic class as a birthday party planner and leader. I planned a fun set of activities for each party, being sure that the games were age appropriate (ages 3-12). It was very rewarding to lead the group through my schedule and play around with the birthday boy or girl. Especially with a thing like gymnastics, the kids would just light up knowing they would be able to jump around on the equipment. I worked from June 2010 - June 2011.
From the time I was in eighth grade in September 2007, I have been a junior nurse's assistant at the medical center in my hometown. Mainly helping the nurses with patients. This has given me extensive exposure to many different types and ages of children and has given me an appreciation for the caregiver - child relationship and the family dynamic.
Lastly, starting in my second semester at NYU, I started working as a volunteer at the shelter home as a tutor and daycare volunteer. From infants to children in fifth grade, I was responsible for homework help, playtime, feedings, nap time, story time, coloring, etc.
