I have been doing some type of caring for children since high school. In high school, I was in charge of my honor society's babysitting committee in which we watched children while their parents were at PTA meetings. From there, I met a family who I have been employed with for five years. I was their nanny during the summer for their son and daughter who were 6 and 7 when I began. My responsibilities included preparing meals, transporting the children, supervising them in the pool, supervising play dates and most of all making sure the kids had a good time!
I am presently the nanny for a family with a 4-year-old boy who was 17 months when I began. My duties are to take care of anything pertaining to his needs. This includes meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, taking the child on outings and to educational activities, potty training and discipline. I also use my background in education to prepare the child for school and make sure his development is age appropriate. I create activities that work on both his fine and gross motor skills, social skills, math and literacy.
Caring for children has always been something I enjoy. Being around kids of any age has always been natural and fun for me. It is something that I loved so much that I decided to be a teacher! I graduated from college in 2010 with my degree in education. I firmly believe that I can have a positive effect on every child's life I enter and I genuinely love what I do.
