I really enjoy spending time with children and pets. I spend as much time as I can with my niece and nephews, since I currently do not have children of my own. My brother and his wife are both in the National Guard, and I take care of my niece (6 years old) and nephews (4 1/2 years old, and 5 months old) on their National Guard weekends. Also, there have been several times where I will also take care of my sister-in-law's three children (15 years - 6 years old), while taking care of my niece and nephews. I have done a lot of baby-sitting and pet sitting for friends, neighbors, former teachers, and acquaintances. I was also a nanny for a boy (age 4) and a girl (18 months) for almost a year. I have a BA in English and history. I also received certification to teach secondary education in both areas, in the state of Iowa. I love spending time with children because they are so fun and imaginative. They keep me young and fun-loving. I feel that children need good role models and lots of attention. I believe that I am a good role model, and I definitely take my duty of child care very seriously. My belief is that children are special care packages that need to be nurtured, loved, and felt to be special in their own right.
