During my four years at University of Connecticut, I studied human development and family studies, so I have a very strong background in child development. I sought to be a well-rounded student there, and maintained a strong GPA, while participating in the varsity swimming program. Since then, I have enrolled at Eastern Connecticut University and have one more class to complete before earning my master's degree in the elementary education graduate program.
I have always known that I wanted to work with children. I have had the opportunity to work with children and teach them at many different levels through my employment as a swim coach and swim lesson teacher the past seven summers. I have worked with children ranging from age three to eighteen, and I have loved all the experiences that it has given me. This past fall, I completed my semester of student teaching in a kindergarten classroom in Manchester, CT. I have been a substitute teacher at E. O. Smith High School and it has given me the chance to work with a diverse group of students ranging from severely disabled students to advanced honor students.
