I learned how to change diapers, lull babies to sleep, keep on the parents' schedule of naps and feeding, and go get the parents during the service if their child really needed them. Ever since then, I always enjoyed taking care of younger children, and interacting with older ones. I babysat for random families in my church after that....

My first experience with babysitting was working in the nursery at my church. I learned how to change diapers, lull babies to sleep, keep on the parents' schedule of naps and feeding, and go get the parents during the service if their child really needed them. Ever since then, I always enjoyed taking care of younger children, and interacting with older ones. I babysat for random families in my church after that. It was then that I got referred from a lady in my church to a mother who had just had a baby boy. I then started to take care of him maybe once a week when I was younger, and then at least 3 times a week when I was in my last years of high school. When he was younger I did most of the regular babysitting duties like playing, feeding, and diaper changes... but he also had a lot of dietary restrictions and developmental issues that I had to learn to adapt to. He was allergic to many foods, so I had to remember to keep to a very strict diet so he didn't suffer if he ate something wrong. He also had a lot of anger issues when he got a little older, so I had to learn to talk through his feelings and outbursts with him. All in all, it was a very wonderful experience to babysit him.
