I live in Jacksonville, I'm originally from NYC. I moved to MN when I was 18 to try life standing entirely on my own two legs. I have been working with children fairly consistently over the last 22 years. In my experience nothing comes close to being as rewarding as being a nanny. I have worked with children in many fields/areas and have always found being a nanny to be the most rewarding and fulfilling. I have been a nanny for twins who were both autistic. When the boys were 5, they adopted an infant girl. She had some problems with speech delay as well as other learning disabilities. They later added a fourth child to the family. I have also been a nanny for triplets that were newborns when I first started, and 3 when I moved away to MN. Fall 2010 - fall 2011(a year) I was a nanny for a family of 3, premature twins and a 22-month-old. They only wanted a nanny for a year then for purposes of money and socialization, wanted their kids back in daycare. This year I nannied for a family of 2. The family had a 6 yr old boy and a 3 yr old with Mowar-Wilson Syndrome, a rare disease (139 cases known to ever have existed). It severely impacts mental & physical development, for this reason she was developmentally more similar in age to an 8-month-old. These are just some of the types of families/family dynamics I have been a nanny for. I have been a nanny for children of all age ranges and I am equally comfortable with all ages. With regard to discipline I use positive and constructive criticism that is age appropriate and as for younger children where this technique is not really useful yet, I like to use methods such as redirection, giving options and use child friendly easy to understand language. I never use foul language, raise my voice, or use physical discipline of ANY kind. I think the best way to help in areas of disciplining is to set expectations that are reasonable and understandable to the child keeping their age in mind; explaining why things are and are not okay and have consequences known beforehand that are fitting whenever possible. Regarding everything though, I like to mimic parents parenting styles and methods when helping them and assisting them in raising their children. I have saved and worked hard my whole life, some personal goals I have reached with this work ethic has been the purchase of my cabin from my parents at cost in high school, 6 acres of land behind it,I bought in college. And paying off in full my vehicle. I also went to college without loans.
