I started a full time position caring for a 3-year-old girl on Monday, October 22nd. I may be available some evenings for childcare from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I completed a year long contract with a family from Sept. 2011 to Sept. 2012. I cared for their 2-year-old boy 4 days a week and their 3-year-old 1 day a week.

I started learning about and providing childcare since my younger brother came along when I was 6. My first job was providing care and companionship to an 11-yr-old boy when I was 15. Throughout college, I provided childcare for a 9-month-old boy regularly, and I am still friends with his family. Since moving to San Francisco in 1996, I provided childcare for my cousins part-time for their 8-month-old daughter. During graduate school (2003-2005) and after I was a nanny full time for a 15-month-old boy for one year then worked part-time for another year. I still provide occasional childcare and remain close friends with him and his mom.

Since 2010, I have provided childcare for five families ranging from filling short-term needs to a regular commitment of 2-3 days per week with children, aged 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1.5 and 3 years old.

I have some background in developmental psychology and have learned more about early childhood development and education through my experience and more recent self study. I feel most aligned with the philosophy of attachment parenting as an additional caregiver for infants and toddlers and am interested in learning more about and applying early education practices used in Montessori, Waldorf and other alternative philosophies.

I am passionate about supporting children to develop fully into confident, healthy, emotionally secure adults and enjoy teaching them and providing a staff space for their exploration and growth. I am nurturing, present, attentive, loving, patient, creative, resourceful, and have excellent communication skills. I am happy to help with family pets and some light housekeeping as well as perhaps some personal assisting. I am neat, tidy, mindful, compassionate and seeking to be treated as a partner in supporting and raising your child and assisting you in your day to day house.
