My passion for helping children began when I was a child, witnessing the difficulties experienced by my younger sibling who was stricken with a genetic disorder. As I grew older, my passion for caring for children continued as I volunteered working with hospitalized and disabled infants and children.
My background includes being professionally trained and educated in newborn care and child care. Over the last 30 years, I have worked with healthy and disabled children in home, hospital, and daycare settings. I have a B.A. in Sociology/Social Work from college (Chicago), certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from a hospital (Chicago), and certification as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. Over the years, I have worked for several home healthcare agencies/nursing agencies specializing in newborn care and multiple births. My experience in daycare centers includes working at a hospital infant and child care center, and at a college childcare center. My hospital experience includes working at the university's children's hospital with babies and young children, and with disabled children. I have also conducted seminars for expectant/new parents. Over the last 12 years, I have been working as a nanny for the families of several pediatricians and being a Postpartum Douala. One of the families I worked for dubbed me as providing the "Gold Standard" in child care. My most recent nanny job involved caring for toddler twins.
I am now searching for a full-time nanny position and am willing to make a long-term commitment to the right family. I would also consider short-term postpartum Douala assignments and overnight and weekend child care jobs.
My current certification in CPR and First Aid is valid through September of 2014.

I have allergies to dogs and cats.
I do not wish to transport children to activities; exceptions will be made in cases of medical emergencies.
