My love for children began as a young girl.
I began babysitting for my neighbors at 10 years old.
Of course, I helped my mother tend to my little brother, 8 years my junior.
I was a nursery worker and Sunday School teacher from 1992-1999 for a Christian center, now a church in Redwood City.
In 1997, I worked for a Menlo Park home daycare for about 8 months until I was laid off. I cared for children, ages ranging from infants to 18 months. At that time, I took my first ECE, Early Childhood Education class, Child Development.
In between then and 2011, I was employed as an administrative assistant for various high and low tech companies. The thought of caring for children as an actual career choice never really crossed my mind.
In early 2011, my friend who is a Director of a local preschool knew I was in between jobs. Knowing my love for children, she approached me with the need of helping a little boy, 3 years of age, to acclimate to his new preschool environment.
I began working at the preschool in Redwood City. I began working with the little boy, shadowing him, being his trusted friend. It didn't take long to find myself becoming involved with the other classrooms in the school.
At the preschool, I have served children whose ages range from 2.5 years to kindergarten.
I have assisted with potty training, diapering, fine motor development, social emotional development, nap-time relaxation, snack-time assistance, and everything in between.
I am able to manage anywhere from 8-12 children in a classroom setting without assistance.
I have been fingerprinted, and I have a clear background check.
I have completed the following ECE classes at Canada College, Redwood City:
*Child Development
*Curriculum
*Principals.
Presently, I am enrolled in ECE Child, Family Community.
I believe that play is learning.
I believe that the trust and respect of a child is something to be earned by being trustworthy and respectful.
I believe that a fun and gentle approach wins the affection of a child.
Modeling and gently teaching desirable behavior creates results.
I believe that children are the future and it is my goal to touch the lives of children in a positive and loving manner.
