Because I am an only child, I think this in itself has inspired me to want to be around children more, as I never really knew what that was like as a young child and even today. I believe that children are the future and that it is important for older generations, especially mine, to be role models for these children and teach them right from wrong. I have always had a passion for children; I just seem to connect with them. Although not all of my positions have been paid (watching cousins for example), I've always thoroughly enjoyed any baby-sitting positions that I have taken. Taking care of a child/children, while also providing fun activities, is rewarding to me. Knowing that I'm making a difference in a child's life and that the child can depend on me means a lot. I also have experience working with handicapped children. I've worked with children who have Down syndrome, Angelman syndrome, and cerebral palsy, and am actually considering going to graduate school for special education in the future.
