I have always been around children. I have got lots of younger cousins and two younger siblings, all of whom I have babysat for and remain active in their lives. I've taken it upon myself to coordinate the activities for younger family members during get-togethers and also host a yearly cam-out.
One of my siblings happens to be disabled so I've spent a lot of time working with the disabled population over the years. I've done something with the Special Olympics almost every year, whether it be training or the actual games. I've also invested a lot of time with an organization called SACC, which stands for Structured Athletics for Challenged Children. I've been involved with this since it's Lincolnton chapter opened in 1999. I've babysat many of the children who I've met through this program.
I've spent a considerable amount of time working with and around children for the past few years. I spent the summer of 2006 volunteering for the Schiele Museum in Gastonia; interacting with the children there. During my senior year of high school I was a librarian and teacher assistant. I just graduated with a Bachelor's of Art in Elementary Education. During my college career I worked in the children's ministry at my church, tutored, and visited many local schools. I currently work as a tutor with Sylvan.
