I am EMT certified as well as CPR & AED certified, and I am a college graduate (Bachelor's and Master's degrees). I also have over 20 college credits in child development, lesson planning, parent-child relations, family relationships, child psychology, and developmental psychology that help me understand the needs and skills of every age. I have been caring for children for 10 years now, with my last long-term position lasting a year and a half (until I moved). I also volunteer in my church's nursery, summer, and Sunday school programs. I adore engaging children in activities, educational games, and play-time. I prefer not to have the children watch TV since there are so many other fun things we can do (unless specifically asked to allow them to watch TV.)
I am very comfortable with newborns through teenagers. The youngest child I have sat for was four days old, the oldest was a special needs girl my own age. I also have experience with special needs, particularly children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I am more than happy to help your children with schoolwork, and I have experience as a tutor and substitute teacher. For little ones, I love involving them in learning through various games and activities. These activities can be as simple as color/counting games at lunchtime, or math while cooking simple meals with the children. I believe that it is never too early for a child to start learning.
I am more than happy to prepare meals for your family and complete simple household chores. I always pick up after myself (cleaning the kitchen, loading the dishwasher, etc) and I always pick up after playing. I do not smoke, drink, or curse. I am more than happy to meet with you before I sit, so that both you and your children are comfortable, and that way I can learn about any special needs, concerns, allergies, and your routine.
I am currently looking for a few families to sit for in the area, and I am open to a part-time position as a nanny. My husband is in the military and we will be here for the next 4 years minimum. I am open to part-time babysitting positions, occasional babysitting, or before/after-school positions. I hold certifications as an EMT, CPR/AED, and I am more than happy to bring you a copy of all of my certification cards. I have my own car and a squeaky clean driving record. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile!
