Growing up, I was always very interested in playing house and school. I was lucky enough to have a little brother 18 months younger than I to be my sidekick. When we had a little sister come along 8 years later, it became apparent to me, even at such a young age, that I would one day love to have a big family.
I began babysitting my cousin's kids at the age of 11. She had one little boy at the time who was right around 6 months when I started to watch him. Not long after, another boy was added to the equation, making the sitting twice the fun! I watched them for about 8 years, until the boys' immediate cousin down the street was old enough to take over.
The energy that children have is amazing to me and I am so enthusiastic when it comes to teaching them new things. Seeing their faces light up when you watch them do something for the very first time gives me a flutter of accomplishment. Although I am no longer an Early Childhood Education major, I took a few classes over the course of two years that have helped me immensely with the overall education of children. I am very patient and skilled in "getting on a kid's level". After all, I am still a kid at heart!
