Because my mom ran an in-home daycare I have a natural ability to sense kids' needs and an understanding of how to respond to them. I intend to pursue a career in Early Childhood Development, and until I start college in late 2012, I am seeking a full-time position caring for a family. With kids I strive to be a role model, friend, and someone who shows them how to get their needs met while being aware of others' needs and staying safe.
Working with my mom, I oversaw up to seven young kids, infants through 10-year-olds. At the park or in our backyard, I led active games and guarded them while swimming. Once a week, we 'd take the kids on field trips. I made sure kids were prepared for the event and, when needed, took over the group when someone needed my Mom's attention. One time Mom locked her keys in the car, so I got the kids playing Duck-Duck-Goose while she contacted the families. The kids had a great time and never knew there was a problem.
Most recently, I've worked for the T. family. Their daughter, is now 10 and their son is 2. Since my sophomore year, I've worked for them on average 32 hours/wk in the summer and on weekends throughout the year.
