I am a very outgoing fun loving type person. I love working with children and seeing them grow as learners as well as a person. I have worked with children ages 8 weeks through preschool. I am a firm believer in teaching children to learn from experience and use those experiences in teaching themselves. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education from Buffalo State College grades 1-6. I am currently pursuing my master degree from Dowling College in literacy in which I will be certified birth to grade 6. My past 2 1/2 yrs while working with 2 1/2-3 yr olds my assistant worked with the kids a lot on their manners saying please and thank you and working on verbal interaction with their peers as well as adults. I try to always start with small steps when asking for things and working towards full and complete sentences. sharing and taking turns was something that we also worked on a lot because of the age group. I also try to strive to build on the child's prior experiences in order for them to further their knowledge not only on subjects or ideas that are age appropriate but also life lessons. I am a big believer in working with the parent of the child/student in order to reach their goal of how they would like their child to be raised, because I feel that in order to be successful at raising a child the child needs to be taught the same thing consistently on all levels.
