I babysat various children throughout my teenage years. I was a summer camp counselor for the YMCA. Since graduating college, I spent roughly 5 years working with at-risk youth in the Bay Area. I worked in a co-ed group home setting with emotionally disturbed children. I utilized therapeutic interventions, helped manage the house and supported them with every aspect of their daily life (homework help, planning fun activities and games, preparing meals, going on community outings, helping them with chores, and supporting them at bedtime). I then transferred to a position working with high needs foster youth. I supported them with building age-appropriate skills (social, academic, within the home, etc.). I love playing, finding creative activities and just having fun. I really enjoy trying new art activities and games as well as reading and finding fun ways to help them learn. I'm great at setting limits while remaining positive but firm. I am very artistic and have played numerous sports throughout my life. I have worked with children of all ages and temperaments. I love meeting kids where they're at (trying the activities they enjoy but also challenging them to try new things).
