I work as an adult cross guard/ school bus monitor during the week part time. The ages of children I work with is pre-elementary, usually 12-14 kids at one time. My duties as a monitor is to keep the children quiet and in their seats, seat belts buckled. I usually keep them quiet with a game I made up called 'ninja' you can guess how this is played. basically the kids keep quiet, if they make a loud noise than they lost the game where we would then start over. Basically the 'silent game' but called Ninja. As a cross guard, I don't really interact with crossers because they know what they are doing, the adults at least. I've made friends with some children walking with parents whom I see every day. The most that happens as a cross guard is I push the button to walk, greet the pedestrian, and hold a stop sign, maybe a little conversation.
