I have three in a half years experience working with children at a daycare facility from 6 weeks old to 12 years of age. I love children I have two of my own and everyday that I went to work I treated the kids as if they were my own. The first daycare I worked for they put me with the infants and it was awesome. Soon I started another daycare and they also started me with the infants. So the most experience that I have are with infants but through the years went on I started working with toddlers, three, early preschoolers, and finally afterschoolers as well. When I started with the infants it was always a challenge to figure out what the baby would need but if you pay close attention I knew exactly what each baby needed. It was very important to put them on a schedule unless the parents already had them on one. Once you knew there schedule if one day something was off from schedule I would automatically know something was wrong. I would always care for all children but the infants were more responsibility just do to the fact that babies cant get medication for being sick because they are so young. But I made sure every child would clean there hands before eating or after using the restroom or coming inside from playing in the playground. When I worked with the infants I made sure they would be clean from there diaper every hour, made sure they didn't have a boogie nose and made sure to rinse there hands thoroughly so we can all be germ free. When the director saw I was being a really good employee they gave me the responsibility to drop them off at school and to pick them up as well. I enjoyed driving the van because the kids respected me and they felt safe to ride with me and take them to the daycare safe from school. The rules they knew from the van were to get on the bus, find a seat, buckle up, and use inner voices so I can concentrate on the road and check on them through the mirror just to make sure everything was good. Other things I would do at the daycare would be sing along for each age group just depended which age group I was taking care of. Such as ring around the rosie, ABC song, the days of the week, and also the months of the year. It was also important to show them there colors and numbers as well. When the older kids had homework they would come to me for help. When the weather did not permit us to go outside we would find fun activities to do such as getting paint out and getting our hands and feet and making prints for our parents.
