As a young adult I often tended to the younger children in my extended family. Very often I am chosen as Godmother to the newborns. After my own marriage, on a part-time basis, I cared for my nieces and nephews for years. In a natural progression an opportunity came for me to help a family in their home full time. There were 3 children in the home. The responsibility of their safety, homework, driving to their activities, meals and general well-being support were assigned to me. And it is there that I continued until the children were grown and left for college. Recently, I received an associate's degree in education and am continuing to my bachelor's degree.
