Growing up, I would babysit for friends and family whenever I got the chance. As I started reaching that certain age where the question is asked, "what do I want to be when I grow up?" there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to become a teacher. I had so many wonderful teachers and mentors who were a huge part in shaping me into the young woman I am today. I knew I would love nothing more than to do the same thing. From August of 2007 to June of 2010, I worked for Hueneme Elementary as a para educator/after school teacher for grades first through sixth. I had my class of about 25-30 students for grades third, fourth, and fifth. I created weekly lesson plans, including educational activities, art projects, P. E. activities, music and dance lessons, tutoring, and special projects. Every couple of months I attended workshops that the School District provided, furthering my skills and knowledge pertaining to children, learning proper procedures, and how to deal with difficult/troubled students. All of these experiences, including college courses I have taken while working towards my degree and credentials, have helped me become confident and professional about my work. I love working with kids, and especially creating a good healthy relationship between my students, their family, and myself.
