My earliest experience working with children was babysitting when I was a teenager, and I have loved it ever since! I remember it always gave me a great excuse to play and be a kid myself. In fact, I loved it so much, I went to school to get a degree in Elementary Education! I did have to leave school, unfortunately, and could not finish my degree but when I returned back to Houston, I immediately started working in a daycare setting! I loved it! In many of the daycare centers I worked with children 2 to 5 years old and have found it to be one of my favorite age groups. Another school I worked in, I worked as a floater, meaning I was put where they needed me, there I worked with infants to 18-month-olds. I found I also loved that age.
After working in daycare and a Montessori setting for several years, I thought I would try something different, so I tried working as a nanny and it has been a wonderful experience! I have worked with a single parent family with a 4 year old/11 year old, a same sex family with triplets (starting at 21 months until they were 3.5 years) and an adorable 15-month-old girl who was several months premature, so was somewhat special needs, eating/physical. My most recent babysitting/experience working with infants is working with triplet 9-month-old infants on the weekends as needed, since they were 4 months old. I have had a wonderful experience working with these families and can not wait to meet the next family to welcome me in their home and enjoy playing, and learning with their child/ren.
