I graduated from IUP with a B. S. in child and family studies and minors in human services and psychology. I am currently working on a Master's Degree in Applied Developmental Psychology at Pitt.
I absolutely love children! My many classes that focused on child development and developmentally-appropriate practices have helped me become even better at caring for children. I love to play games, inside and out. I have been on many sports teams. I enjoy being around people. When I am with someone else's children, I treat them with as much love and respect as I would my own, if I had any! I play games and try to integrate as much learning as possible into whatever activity we are doing. I am flexible. I can 'wing it' in most situations. I also make sure that I know parents' expectations and discipline procedures before I am alone. I want to be clear and fair with the children and have high expectations for all children's behavior. I never use put-downs or inappropriate language. I use positive reinforcement and redirection. I try never to watch TV, although movies are often a good way to wind down before bedtime. I limit video and computer games based on the parent's word and the situation. I often sit for families with multiple children, or for two families. I love pets too! I worked as a TSS with children with developmental disabilities, so I have experience with special needs and behavioral problems. I currently work with foster children that have a variety of behavioral and mental health needs and have experience in a wide range of interventions. I have worked with children of all ages, from newborns to teens and would love the opportunity to spend time with your children!
