I had my first paid babysitting jobs when I was a teenager. I loved caring for young children, reading to them, and doing simple craft projects. Until two years ago I worked for pay as an administrative assistant, but never stopped enjoying children. In January of 2011 I started babysitting again. I decided to learn more about the needs of newborn babies and their families and, in June 2011, took a three-day postpartum doula training course. In preparation for certification by DONA International as a postpartum doula, I have been reading extensively and working with babies.

For 7 years, I taught in supplemental Hebrew schools for children in 3rd through 6th grades, and I loved creating projects where they worked in small groups making large paintings of scenes from stories in the Torah.

When my two children were young, I stopped working outside the home until the younger one was in junior high school. It was a privilege to spend this time with them. In addition to paid babysitting jobs, I currently get my down-on-the-floor time with my great-niece and great-nephew, ages 5 and 7. I believe the time spent listening to and teaching young children is invaluable.

I was an early reader and know the importance and fun of "traveling" through a great story with fascinating characters. I love reading to children, watching their expressions as they hear a story and examine illustrations, hearing their questions and helping them to find answers. I love playing games with children, especially when they take a game and create a new purpose for it. I love making simple art and baking projects with children, and letting them take all the time they need to complete a task.
