I'm a mother of a 14 month old who is lucky enough to get to stay home and play with him all day. He loves other kids and would love to have a playmate. I would describe my childcare style as learning through play. Of course I want my child to learn his abc's and number, etc. but more than that I want him to love to learn and think it's fun. Instead of flash cards or DVD's we try to incorporate learning into our play, counting blocks as we stack them, pointing out what's happening in the pictures as we read a book, playing pat-a-cake, and singing songs. We dance in the kitchen to the radio and match up our socks from the laundry and play outside in the grass and at the park discovering the world. Every effort is made to keep to the baby's nap schedule when planning outings and provide a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables or safely prepared milk. For younger babies we play fun games like peekaboo and focus on tummy time and developing large gross motor skills. Lastly, I have access to WAFB, which we frequent often for their great playgrounds, library and commissary.
