I am 20 years old and I've been working with children since I was 13 years old. I started off babysitting my cousins for my Aunties for a couple of hours. I was a part of a tutoring program called Future Builders Club when I was 14. I use to tutor children in the community in areas where needed. The ages ranged from 6 to 17. One little boy, who was 5, that I tutored was in a slower class than his other classmates. As I took my time with him he understood it more, and got to go back to his regular class with the other students. This made me feel extremely good! I then went on to babysit my cousins overnight, who were 2 and 4. Duties included prepare meals, change diapers, clean up, etc. I also worked at Day Camp with kids from 5 to 13. My senior year of high school I got the chance to teach 5th graders how to type. It was actually very fun and exciting. The kids were so motivated and just ready to learn how to type. Teaching the kids really taught me patience because it wasn't just one kid I was teaching it was about 22 kids. When I graduated high school I worked with a company that went to different daycares and let the students on the bus to play. Well, it wasn't all play. We went over colors and numbers with them. We also read to them as well. I just love working with children because it's never a dull moment. It's always exciting.
