I have raised two daughters of my own who are now young adults. My experience working within Mountain View Elementary School throughout my daughters attendance as a volunteer was highly rewarding and inspired me to seek my teaching certificate in Special Education. I then had the opportunity to work at the fourth and fifth grade level through the College's teaching program, assisting students in small groups as well as individual studies.
After graduating with honors, I was accepted into the Educational Department. During this time, I worked for two quarters within an elementary school setting. Although I did not complete my degree due to a family medical emergency, my GPA upon my leaving was 3.88.
I have experience working with children of all ages, also with special needs and foreign exchange students.
I have a great love for children and my childcare style is very nurturing and supportive. My focus is designed to bring out the highest level of creativity in each child, tailoring the learning situations to meet the specific needs of each individual to fulfill their utmost potential. The two classes that I feel have best prepared me to care for children are Early Developmental Psychology and Classroom management. I strive to encourage mutual respect and positive reinforcement. A child's clear understanding of the rules now will help to ensure success later in life. Frequent and consistent feedback regarding the child's behavior are also important tools in the guidance of motivation and discipline.
By far the greatest reward of working with children has been all the love and positive feedback that I have received over the years.
Every time that I have helped to motivate a child to pursue his or her dreams it has been a blessing and I seek to continue to do so.
