I am studying Youth Studies, Family Violence Prevention, and Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities. I am continually learning knew and better ways to work with young people.
I currently work at MetroKids, an early childhood education program.
There it is my responsibility, as an Assistant Teacher, to conduct fun, constructive circle time and group activities for preschool children, ages 3-5 years old. Engage with children through art, crafts, and music. Facilitate nap and snack time. Appreciate the need to encourage children through positive reinforcement and acknowledgment of good behavior, but also fully understand the importance of limit setting and consistency.
Prior to college, I worked at Harbor Athletic Club's Kids Club in Middleton, WI.
As a Child Care Assistant, I facilitated a safe, enriched environment for children ages 0-12 to have fun and learn, while parents work or workout within the athletic club. Complete simple cleaning tasks and chores.
Over the past three years, I worked as a nanny for the Schell family. I provided care (food, hygiene, health, entertainment, trips, etc) for their once one, then two, now three children. Their kids are now 3 years old, 2 years old, and 3 months old.
I also presently hold a volunteer Special Ed Assistant position at Laura Jeffery Academy, the first girls focus school in the area. I work along side girls with cognitive disabilities, helping them succeed in integrated classroom settings.
Furthermore, I am a member of the Youth Development Staff for the Y-Mentor: Buddies program at the University YMCA. I oversee family visits, Little buddy interviews, Big buddy interviews, and school on-site visits. I act as a mentor and positive role model for youth in grades 3-8.
