I have several years of nannyexperience, plus 4 younger brothers and sisters! I have been a nanny for some very difficult children and know how to deal with most any situation thrown my way. I have babysat up to 8 children at once by myself, and up to 15 with another sitter. I also have four years of professional housekeeping (I know that keeping things neat and tidy is important!) and pet care experience with terrific references for all aspects of past work history.
I believe in open, honest, and direct communication. I think that communication is the number one priority in dealing with everyone, including the little ones! I try to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to what is expected and hoped for. I am a really fun and outgoing young woman who loves every child like they were my own. I don't believe physical punishment is necessary. I believe that by communicating effectively with the child and making them aware of their personal choices and the consequences of those choices, eliminates the need for physical discipline. I am a fan of the 'time-out' method and the removing of toys/games/activities from a child when they misbehave. I am a firm but very loving individual and I encourage independence in children, believing that it is one of the many ways to help children become more secure in themselves and confident in their abilities. I give a lot of hugs, positive affirmation, and encouragement. I am a big advocate of positive reinforcement! I know each child is different, so I make it a point to observe and learn each child's behavior patterns and personality traits. I believe that each child is an individual who should be dealt with in different ways. I am highly adaptable to routines/schedules and believe that consistency is very important in a child's development. So I make it a point to stay in a pattern in which the child can be secure in knowing what to expect.
My idea of fun includes letter boxing, nature walks, picnics at the park, local baseball games, trips to the SPCA, Isles of Shoals trips, and the library is great for rainy days! I left PHS a few years ago with strong focus in a two year culinary program that educated me in nutrition and meal preparation, as well as a two year media program. During high school, I was involved in a small Girl Scout troop and supervised the Daisy/Brownie troops. I was on the debate team my freshman year. I hope to hear from you! Thanks so much.
