Hello, my name is Christina. I am incredibly passionate about children, their learning, and their life experiences. Since January 2011, I have been a full-time college student majoring in Early Childhood Development and Education at Columbus State Community College. My strong belief in an educational curriculum through play, experimentation, and self-discovery allows for the development of the whole child. Reading books to children and participating in other literacy/oral language activities are a passion of mine. Trips to the library, Franklin Park Conservatory, the wonderful children's space at the Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, the Columbus Zoo, various State Parks, and the Scioto Mile are wonderful learning environments. It is my core belief that children can learn so much by experiencing life, especially while enjoying nature. As much as I enjoy teaching in a preschool classroom, working with a family directly can be positive in so many ways. I was a Big Sister of Franklin County for over 10 years and won the W. E. Richardson Award for Outstanding Service. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and I am the President of the Early Childhood Development and Education Club at Columbus State. I have 2+ years of teaching experience with infants to 5-year-olds in a preschool environment and many years of childcare experience.
