I have watched many children growing up. One of my friends had a total of seven siblings ranging from 14 to 12 months old. My mother helped me watch all of them since at the time I was 14. That's how I learned to care for little kids. A few years later, I moved and began babysitting my neighbor's daughter when she was 18 months old, at the time she was still in diapers so it was a good thing I knew how to change them. I've put her to bed several times with no problems. I have always been able to interact and play with her the whole time she is in my care and I've learned that it eliminates the "I want mommy phase." I have also babysat family members. My brother has two little girls, one was an infant, the other a toddler, and I watched them for a full day. That meant a bottle every two hours for the baby, lunch, snacks, and dinner for the toddler. I changed many diapers that day and successfully got the older one to take a two hour nap. I've also watched my sister's baby when she was a newborn, which was a little bit of a challenge just because she was so young. Once I realized that all she needed was sleep, a bottle, and a few diaper changes the time flew quickly and everything went well. I've also cared for my Aunt's daughter whom is mentally handicapped, she is completely mute and communicated through pictures and leading me to what she needed, including bathroom trips, what toys she wanted, and what she wanted to eat or drink. I found it fun to play with her and to see her excitement with all of the toys.
