I first started looking after children the same way many people do, I am the oldest child in my family and often had to look after younger siblings after school and during school breaks. I would typically prepare meals, clean (yes, even laundry), and plan fun activities to do throughout the day. As I grew older I would also help shuttle siblings to and from practices or games.
During the summer while I was in high school, I also worked as a lifeguard for a local camp grounds. The last summer I worked for the camp grounds I was promoted to a head lifeguard position and managed four other guards. That being said, I have had aquatic safety training in addition to CPR and general first aid training.
For two years I was also a mentor to a child through Big Brother and Big Sisters or Orlando, FL where I made a strong connection and meaningful relationship with a bright young girl.
