I went to college to become a Early Childhood Development major. The early years of a baby's life is such an amazing experience. To see their development throughout the first about 3 years of their life is definitely a blessing, and to be a part of that development educationally is even more rewarding! Babies are like sponges, and they absorb so much in their first years of life. Being a teacher was an awesome experience for, however, I have grown to love caring for children on a more intimate, one on one level. For those hard working and career minded parents, I enjoy being a nanny to their family first and foremost to give them the best care for their children in the safety and comfort of their own home. Also, keeping a structured and disciplined daily routine helps manage routine. There are so many free educational activities offered today through the library system that socialization is never an obstacle when it comes to having a nanny for your child/children. Being a nanny for 5+ years now, I have learned that being a nanny for so many different families is definitely a humbling experience. Career minded parents want the best care for their children, including the socialization and structure that would come from a childcare center, only in the comfort of your own home. The most important thing I have learned being a nanny is the Consistency between parents and the nanny. If discipline is not consistent between the parents and the nanny, then the nanny has to fight for authority. When that is questioned, the nanny feels defeated when all she wants to do is help keep balance and consistency between what is expected from the children by the parents and the nanny. Consistency is key, especially when it comes to daily routine and discipline. Communication is also a big key to any successful nanny/family relationship! Only these things are learned from years of experience with many different families.
