I started working with children while I was in high school, mainly through my church. I was a Sunday School teacher, as well as a VBS teacher, for most of high school, teaching all but the 4th-5th grade groups. During my summers since I've started college, I've worked as a nanny and as a baby sitter. Almost every summer, I spend a few weeks with a family who has four children aged 4, 6, 10, and 12. The parents like to let them spend a week or two out of summer camps and have me bring them to the pool or to the movies, many times asking me to teach them something new. This past summer, I worked for a month with a family with three children, aged 2, 5, and 6, who had up to three other children visiting regularly. In July and August, I worked for another family who had a 13-month-old and a newborn. Mainly through working with these families, I have discovered that I truly enjoy working with children, especially infants and toddlers.
