I am a college graduate with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology at the University of Rhode Island. I have had much experience working with children in my past three years in school, including student teaching in second grade, and as a member of a program called Jumpstart (pre-kindergarten). I was enrolled in Jumpstart for my entire freshman year. The program involved me working with a child one on one to make his eventual transition into kindergarten easier. We first got to know each other and then focused on what our child needed help with specifically (because most were underprivileged). Before attending college, I volunteered for two summers at a camp for handicapped adults and children (Camp Acorn). During my senior year of high school, I interned at Bergen County Special Services in Hackensack, NJ (2006-2007). I worked with the teachers in the pre-kindergarten classroom with their daily schedule on my days of work, but it was not a paid internship. I now have become a substitute teacher at BELA and have spent time in working in all classrooms with children ranging from 3 months to 6 years of age. In addition, I have had quite a few local baby-sitting jobs of family and family friends. I hope to hear from you!
