I have a variety of experiences with children. For the past year, I worked at the Manville School, which specializes in children with emotional and behavioral problems. As the teacher's assistant, I worked one-on-one with a teenage boy with autism. For the past two years, I have nannyed for a family in Winchester, MA that have a 4-year-old son with a developmental delay and an infant. My job was to take care of the infant during the day and then pick up the older son from preschool. I would then play with both children until one of their parents came home from work. For the summers of 2010 and 2011, I babysat for a variety of families on Cape Cod, MA. From fall 2009 to spring 2010, I was a children's volunteer at the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence. In this position, I provided a safe environment with a reliable adult where children could play.
I worked at Boulder Day Nursery as a teaching assistant from fall 2008 until Summer 2009. I was responsible for helping teachers in the infant room and 1-2 room (children between 1 and 2 years old) organize activities, feed, and play with the children.
I also worked for the non-profit organization Jumpstart, which works to ready low income children for success in school. I worked from The fall of 2007 until the spring of 2008 and I was responsible for working one-on-one with preschool students and establishing social skills, beginning reading, and beginning writing.
I worked seasonally for the Bromley Ski and Snowboard School as a ski and snowboard instructor from winter 2002 until spring 2007. In this position, I taught children how to snowboard in a safe and fun environment.
